Meditate for 10 minutes a day

How can something as seemingly simple as meditation help you stay on track with your fitness goals? It doesn’t burn extra calories, or make cupcakes magically turn into carrots, but numerous studies have shown meditation to be an effective way to reduce stress and improve mental focus. Stress causes spikes in cortisol, which has beenlinked to increased abdominal fat. Could reducing stress through meditation be the secret to a flat stomach? We won’t go that far, but reducing stress can help to improve your digestion and stop you from stress-eating an entire tube of Pringles. Greater focus can help you keep your eyes on the prize so you stick with your plan to exercise and eat clean every day. It can also help you stay in the moment and dig deeper when Shaun T calls for another round of Power Squats!

Try meditating for 10 minutes each day and see how it helps you reach your #SummerCountdown goal. Not sure how to meditate? It can be as simple as sitting comfortably with your eyes closed and taking a few slow, deep breaths. These tips will help you get started. Once you get the hang of it, you may begin to use meditation techniques to help you feel calm and present while you eat, so you mindfully savor each bite and notice when you are satisfied (before you feel full!).
